looking for a drink that is delicious? try this easy limeade! it is only 4 ingredients and so incredibly refreshing. the perfect drink to quench your thirst!
It has been years since I have had limeade and I honestly forgot how amazing it was! I really enjoy it more than lemonade. When I was younger we would go to a hotel that in the afternoon would put out limeade. After playing on the beach all day it was the most delicious thing. The glass was rimmed with sugar and I just couldn’t get enough of that drink! So, this easy limeade is an homage to that and sunny warm days.
Fresh is Better
Since there are only minimal ingredients in here the fresh limes truly are the way to go. I suggest using regular limes and not key lime as they are very small and a pain to juice. I do not like lime juice from a bottle I find the taste to just be off-putting. If you do like it, you can use it but for me I would just use regular fresh limes. You can buy a bunch for a decent price and it doesn’t take that long to juice them. I bought a squeeze juicer from Amazon a few years ago and I love it.
Lime Sugar
The easy limeade on its own is delicious but then you add that lime sugar rim and it just takes it the next level. If you are vegan you should always make sure you use organic sugar to ensure it is bone char free. I really like the one from Florida Crystals. I use it for baking, cooking, drinks – it is wonderful. Then you just add some lime zest to the sugar and coat the rim of the glass in it. It looks pretty and it adds some extra sweetness.

Easy Limeade FAQ
- Can I swap the sugar for a different sweetener? Sure, feel free to use agave, maple syrup, coconut nectar. But different sweeteners can affect the taste.
- Can I make this ahead of time? Yes, but the longer the limes sit in the drink the more the flavor will develop. So, if you are making this more than 1 ahead of time wait to add the lime pieces into the drink.
- Anything else I could add to this? While I do suggest you enjoy it as is you can add some mint, basil, cucumber slices or a little fruit.

Easy Limeade
Ingredients
- 4 limes juiced (about 5.5 ounces/150g lime juice)
- 5 tablespoons (60g) organic sugar
- 8 cups (1200g) ice
- 2 cups (480ml) water
- Mint, lime slice, edible flowers, for garnish
Instructions
- In a small saucepan add the lime juice and sugar. DON’T THROW OUT THE LIMES YOU JUICED. Bring to a rolling simmer over medium low heat, then continue to let it simmer for about 5 more minutes. Stirring occasionally with a spoon until sugar is completely dissolved. Transfer into a heat safe small container and place in the fridge for about 30 minutes to an hour.
- Cut the juiced limes into smaller pieces and add it to the pitcher.
- Then add the cooled lime syrup, ice, and water. Use a large spoon to mix everything. Add more ice if desired.
- Optional: but if you would like to make a lime sugar rim you can add 1 tablespoon (12g) of sugar with the zest of one lime. Mix together. To line the glass use a piece of lime wedge to wet the rim and then dip the glass in it.
- Add ice to the glass, along with a few pieces of lime, and fill to the top. If desired, garnish with a lime slice, a sprig of mint, and edible flowers.
