if you want a fun drink for Christmas then these gorgeous pomegranate and orange christmas mocktails are for you!
the inspiration
While I am primarily a food blog I actually really love creating drink recipes! So, I wanted to make one for Christmas with seasonal flavors and that would look beautiful. I love how the flavors of the orange and pomegranate work together to make something amazing.
I love making mocktails because I don’t drink very often now. However, if you want to add in some alcohol I have ideas we will get into later on.
the ingredients
- Pomegranate Juice: this is the base of our Christmas mocktails! Pomegranate juice is nice because it isn’t overly sweet and it has a beautiful color.
- Orange Vanilla Seltzer: this adds fizziness and flavor to the Christmas mocktails. I went with an orange vanilla flavor but you can also just use orange flavor.
- Agave: this will add a little extra sweetness. You can also use maple syrup.
- Organic Sugar: we are going to make a sugar rim on these Christmas mocktails and make some adorable sugared cranberries.
- Cranberries: these are used in the drink to keep it cold because they are frozen and as a garnish.
- Rosemary: used as a garnish.
- Orange: used to help wet the edge of the glass and add a little squeeze into the drink.
sugared cranberries
One of my favorite things to make during the holidays are sugared cranberries. They look so beautiful and like they have been rolled around in the snow. I just buy a bag of cranberries at the store and throw them in my freezer to keep on hand.
Remove them from the freezer and let them thaw for a few minutes so they get wet. Then roll them in the sugar and it will stick! They are so fun to pop in the drink and stick on a toothpick as a garnish.
They take a few seconds to make and really make a difference in presentation.
pomegranate juice
To start the drink off just combine the pomegranate juice with the agave and a few sprigs of rosemary. If you would like to make this ahead of time and let it sit for a few hours you can.
Christmas mocktails are very easy to make! They require very little work so this recipe is so simple to make. Once you make this you are basically done aside from assembling the drink.
adding alcohol
If you want like to transform these Christmas mocktails into Christmas cocktails that is very easy to do! I think there are a few liquors that would work well in here. I think tequila blanco, vodka (either plain or orange flavored) would be great.
You can also enjoy these for Christmas morning brunch with some prosecco or champagne making it almost like a mimosa! There lots of great ways to make this an adult drink if you would prefer that.
finishing and garnishing the CHristmas mocktails
To finish off these beautiful Christmas mocktails you will add the pomegranate juice between the two glasses. Then, fill it to the top or however much you like with the seltzer. I am using an orange vanilla seltzer, but you can always use an orange seltzer.
Then I put in a bunch of the sugared cranberries because it adds extra sweetness and they work like little ice cubes! Finally, garnish of the edge the glass with a sprig of rosemary, an orange wedge, and sugared cranberries on a toothpick.
Now you are all done! You have these beautiful drinks everyone will love with tons of seasonal flavor.
SKIP THE ICE
Use the frozen cranberries as “ice” it will help to keep the drink cool without watering it down! They also make the seltzer fizz when they are dropped in.
