you can think of this frozen shirley temple as the cooler, more sophisticated version of the shirley temple we all know and love. made with pomegranate juice, ginger ale, lots of ice, and of course maraschino cherries this is a super fun and delicious summer drink.
I don’t know about you but I remember being about 10 years old and order shirley temples thinking I was just about the coolest thing in town. But, this frozen shirley temple is even cooler, see what I did there? It is easy to make, only requires a few ingredients and alcohol free!
Pomegranate Juice
Did you know that the main ingredient in grenadine is actually pomegranate juice and it has nothing to do with cherries… Yeah me either until I googled it. So, since I was getting my groceries from Whole Foods and they didn’t have any grenadine I decided to try two things: pomegranate juice and pomegranate molasses. While the result isn’t that super bright red it still tastes just as delicious!
Why Frozen?
Well, why not? It is fun to make and eat/drink! It comes out like a slushie. Plus, we are truly in those too hot to do much of anything days of summer and this is a great way to cool off. I love any excuse to drink something fun and this frozen shirley temple is just that!

- Can I use grenadine instead of pomegranate juice? Yes! Rose’s Grenadine is vegan friendly.

- Can I add alcohol to this? Sure, maybe some vodka or tequila.
- Any other ideas for things to add in here? If you wanted to add some fresh fruit like strawberries or raspberries when blending that could be fun.
