Ginger Peach Green Tea

this ginger peach green tea is an easy to make and refreshing drink for summer. perfect for hot days and when you want something a little sweet and flavorful.

I love iced green tea so much in the summer. It is truly the perfect drink (in my opinion) and always so refreshing. I love when you go to a restaurant and they have a delicious green tea on the menu. This ginger peach green tea is made with a ginger simple syrup, peach green tea, and some mint for extra freshness. You will love how refreshing this.

Ginger Simple Syrup

Honestly, I cannot be bothered to make a giant batch of something to only use 2 tablespoons of it. So, for this simple syrup recipe you don’t make a lot since we are using the whole thing. I also cannot be bothered to turn granulated sugar into syrup so let’s just maple syrup (can also use agave). This is so easy to make and while the syrup itself may taste very strong on it’s own it will be light in the drink. Also, don’t throw away that essentially candied ginger we are going to put that right into the pitcher too!

Peach Green Tea

My favorite tea is the peach green tea from Bigelow. It is so delicious, the peach flavor isn’t too overbearing but still present and just all around great. There are other brands who make a peach green tea, I know Tazo has one. If you can’t find peach green tea you can also take 2 bags of green tea and 1 bag of an herbal peach tea Celestial and Bigelow make them.

Also, if you aren’t into peach green tea you can always use a different flavor like passionfruit, mango, blueberry there’s so many flavors out there.

Fresh Mint

When I was little my great-grandma had a whole garden full of mint she would always make me stop, smell it, and eat a piece. I love adding fresh mint into things because it makes it look fancy and adds a nice flavor. I only do a few pieces because I do not want this to be overly minty. But you can also muddle it ahead of time if you like which will release more flavors.

Ginger Peach Green Tea

A delicious iced green tea that is made with ginger simple syrup, mint and filled with pieces of peach. Perfect for hot summer days.

Ingredients

Ginger Simple Syrup

• 1 large thumb ginger peeled and sliced (about 1 ounce/30g)
• ¼ cup (60ml) maple syrup
• 2 tablespoons (30ml) water

Green Tea

• 8 cups (1920ml) hot water
• 3 bags peach green tea

Other

• 10 leaves fresh mint
• ½ peach chopped (about 2 ounces/55g)
• Ice to preference

Instructions

 

• In a small pot add the ingredients for the ginger simple syrup. Mix together. Allow them to come to a simmer over low heat, once simmering continue to let it simmer for 5 to 7 minutes. It will be bubbly and thickened. Turn off and remove the ginger pieces, set aside and save for later.
• In a large heat resistant pitcher add the water, tea bags, and simple syrup. Mix with a large spoon. Let tea steep for 3 to 5 minutes and then remove the bags, until it is golden color.
• Allow tea to cool down, I like to start to add ice cubes in now to help speed the process up. Once it is room temperature add in the ginger, chopped peach, and fresh mint.
• Now, you can continue to add ice cubes until it is cold or you can place in the fridge until ready to serve.
• Add ice cubes into a glass, pour in tea then scoop in a few pieces of peach and ginger.

Notes

• Please make sure whatever you pour hot liquid into is heat resistant. I learned my pitcher was not meant for hot liquids…
• The longer the tea sits the more the flavor will develop if you want to serve this for guests make ahead day or night before.
• The ginger simple syrup flavor is light once you add it into the tea. If you desire a strong flavor feel free to double or triple it.
